Why Smile Advantage Exists

Our co-founding dentists built Smile Advantage to solve a problem they knew firsthand. The dental community needed better tools to help practices thrive and serve more uninsured patients. That's the mission we're on.

When we started, the problem was simple: dental practices that offered in-house membership plans had almost no good tools to manage them. Tracking members in spreadsheets. Processing renewals manually. Chasing payments by phone. So we built a platform that changed that. Today, thousands of dental practices across the country run thriving membership programs on Smile Advantage. And thousands of uninsured patients finally have access to affordable care.

But the membership problem was really a payments problem. The payments problem was much bigger than we initially saw. Dental practices were stitching together a dozen different systems just to get paid. So we expanded. Today Smile Advantage handles memberships, recurring billing, card-present terminals, text-to-pay, online payments, payment plans, payment requests, surcharging, and more. One platform built specifically for how dental offices actually work.

Along the way, we grew our team from dentists into dentists working alongside payment experts, fintech engineers, and specialists in healthcare compliance. That foundation (understanding dentistry from the inside) shapes everything we build.
